Violah Jepchumba
Violah Jepchumba , also Violah Chepchumba and Viola Jepchumba , (born October 23, 1990 ) is a Bahraini long-distance runner of Kenyan origin who specializes in 10-kilometer road runs and the half marathon . Jepchumba started internationally for her country of birth until mid-2017, after which she changed nationality.
In 2016, Jepchumba attracted attention with several world class performances.
On April 2, 2016, she won the Prague Half Marathon and ran a new world record for the year. With 1:05:51 h, she ran the third fastest half marathon time that a woman has ever run, staying just 42 seconds above the world record set by her compatriot Florence Kiplagat . It currently ranks third in the all-time half marathon world rankings (Nov. 2016).
At the 10-kilometer road race in Prague on September 10, 2016 , Jepchumba ran at 30:24 minutes, only three seconds slower than the British Paula Radcliffe in her world record run in 2003.
