The Vogelsand is a German measurement and supply ship operated by the Cuxhaven Waterways and Shipping Office .

history

The ship commissioned by the Mechanical Engineering Department was built in 2000/2001. The hull was built under construction number 98/1/5821 at the Jantar shipyard in Kaliningrad , Russia . The keel was laid on June 15, the launch on September 14, 2000. The ship was equipped by Ms. Fassmer in Berne . The completion took place in April 2001.

The ship is named after the sandbanks in the Elbe estuary.

commitment

The ship is used by the Cuxhaven Waterways and Shipping Office for hydrological tasks such as water level and flow measurements, taking water samples and sediment measurements and surveying work such as B. used fairway bearings in the North Sea , the Lower Elbe and the Oste . However, it can also be used as a navigation sign ship for the launching and recovery of fairway buoys , setting pricking and for the supply, maintenance and repair of navigation signs .

Other tasks of the ship are searching for and removing obstacles and towing. The bollard pull of the ship is 11.5 t.

The ship has a range of about 900 nautical miles .

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by an eight - cylinder four - stroke diesel engine made by MTU Friedrichshafen (type: 8 V 4000 ) with an output of 740  kW . The motor acts on a controllable pitch propeller via a gearbox . The ship reaches a speed of 11  knots .

There are two MTU generators on board for the power supply . One of the two generators has an output of 300 kW ( apparent power : 350  kVA ), the other has an output of 51 kW (apparent power: 55 kVA).

The ship is equipped with a bow thruster with an output of 200 kW.

The deck superstructures are located in the bow area. The midship area is occupied by an open working deck. A deck crane with a sea state follower is located here. The crane can lift 5 t with a 7 m radius or 3 t with a 10 m radius. The ship has two measuring jibs for water science tasks.
