History and etymology

Vogelsang first appeared as Vogel Sang in 1743 as an “establishment or alley in the north-western connection of the city to the road to Dahlewitz”. At that time it consisted of a Vorwerk that belonged to the Gallun office and thus to the rule of Königs Wusterhausen . Friedrich Wilhelm I had already acquired the place on October 13, 1716 together with Kallinchen and the third part of the place Gallun for 15,000 thalers from the Brandenburg Chamber President Christian Ernst von Münchow . In 1775 this Vorwerk was mentioned again. In 1801 a “dairy near Mittenwalde in front of the Berliner Tor and blacksmith shop” appeared. At that time the living space consisted of a fireplace (= household) in which four people lived. In 1837, in the topography of the lower courts of the Kurmark Brandenburg and the associated parts of the country, there was talk of a dairy "in front of the Berlin gate ". Eduard Fidicin described in The Territories of the Mark Brandenburg; or, history of the individual districts, cities, manors and villages in the same as a continuation of the land book of Emperor Karl IV. an "octagon" with a size of 11.5 acres . It is said to have been a Wendish fishing village, but no hooves were assigned to it. In 1890 there were already 53 people living in Vogelsang. At the beginning of the 19th century Vogelsang came to the town of Mittenwalde and has been a suburb of Mittenwalde since 1901.

Literary reception

Vogelsang appeared in the walking tour through Mark Brandenburg by Theodor Fontane . There he asks himself: “Who is going to Mittenwalde? Nobody. [...] ... the people of Mittenwald speak of "Vogelsang", "Pennigsberg", "Burgwall" etc., as if all these things were still visibly in front of them. "
