from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bailiwick of Brembach was a territorial administrative unit of the Ernestine duchies . From 1572 it belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar . After the division in 1662, the greater part remained with the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar and in 1735 was incorporated into the Hardisleben office. The smaller part went to Duke Johann Georg I and in 1664 was incorporated into the Großrudestedt office, which from 1672 belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Eisenach .

Geographical location

The Bailiwick of Brembach was located in the eastern part of the Thuringian Basin between Ettersberg in the southwest and Finne in the northeast. Rivers in the official area were the Vippach , the Lossa and the Scherkonde .

The official area is now largely in the Sömmerda district in the northeast of the Free State of Thuringia . Buttelstedt, Rohrbach, Nermsdorf, Vippachedelhausen and Niederreißen are part of the Weimarer Land district .

history

prehistory

Some places of the later Bailiwick of Brembach belonged to the Counts of Orlamünde (including Fiedelhausen (now called Vippachedelhausen), Nermsdorf, Olbersleben, Rastenberg and Vogelsberg) in the 14th century . After their extinction in 1372, these places came to the Wettin Landgraviate of Thuringia . In 1421 Vogelsberg is mentioned as the seat of a bailiwick with 8 villages. When Leipzig was divided in 1485, it came to the Ernestine Electorate of Saxony.

Bailiwick of Brembach

In the 16th century, the Brembach Bailiwick was mentioned as part of the Ernestine Electorate of Saxony. To it belonged the places Großbrembach , Kleinbrembach (Weimarischer part), Olbersleben , Niederreißen , Rohrbach , Nermsdorf , Vogelsberg , Sprötau , Fiedelhausen ( Vippachedelhausen ) and the city Rastenberg .

In 1544, the city of Buttelstedt came back into sovereign possession of the Ernestines from the neighboring office of the same name. The place was now determined to be the seat of the Vogtei Brembach, but remained under the jurisdiction of the Weimar Office .

After the Wittenberg surrender in 1547, the "Vogtei Brembach zu Buttelstedt" continued to belong to the Ernestines. It came to the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar when Erfurt was partitioned in 1572 . After the death of Duke Wilhelm IV of Saxony-Weimar , the Brembach Bailiwick was divided in 1662. The majority of the "Vogtei Brembach" with the places Buttelstedt, Großbrembach, Rastenberg, Olbersleben, Niederreißen, Rohrbach and Nermsdorf remained with Duke Johann Ernst II of Saxony-Weimar and in 1735 was affiliated to the Hardisleben office.

The Brembach towns Kleinbrembach (Weimar part), Vogelsberg, Sprötau and Fiedelhausen (Vippachedelhausen), however, came to Johann Georg I , who took his residence in Marksuhl . In 1664 he united the four places with the Vogtei Schwansee to form the office of Großrudestedt . After Duke Johann Georg I fell into the Duchy of Saxony-Eisenach in 1672, the Großrudestedt office , which was enlarged by the Ringleben office, has belonged to this since then.
