Volodymyr Jurijowytsch Hustow ( Ukrainian Володимир Юрійович Густов , mostly in Latin script: Volodymir Gustov ; born February 15, 1977 in Kiev ) is a former Ukrainian cyclist .

Career

Wolodymyr Hustow became a professional in 2000 with the Italian cycling team Fassa Bortolo . Before the Tour de Romandie 2002, he was tested with a hematocrit of over 50 percent and then punished with a 15-day protection ban. In mid-May it was announced that Hustow was naturally high in hematocrit and the ban was lifted. In the same year he drove the Tour de France for the first time and finished it as his best participation to date in 40th place overall. In 2003 he secured his first victory, he won the overall ranking of the Rothaus Regio-Tour . At the end of the season, the Fassa Bortolo team broke Giancarlo Ferretti on, he was but a place in the CSC team of Bjarne Riis . In 2009 he joined the Swiss team Cervélo Test .

Hustow started six times in the Tour de France . His best placement was 34th in 2010 .
