Voxxclub ( own spelling voXXclub ) is a band of new folk music .

history

The group was founded in 2012 in Munich by Martin Simma, who also took over management, together with the students Michael Hartinger, Korbinian Arendt, Christian Schild, Florian Claus, Stefan Raaflaub and Julian David. The band members come from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The group became known in particular through two music videos , which they staged as if they were flash mobs in which the band appeared with a newly produced version of the song Rock mi (originally by the Alpine rebels ).

As a point of criticism, it was repeatedly stated that Voxxclub was just another test tube . This assessment was u. a. reinforced by the fact that the group appears in their performances in lederhosen and with an apparently alpine music style , but the band members z. B. from Mannheim (Julian David) or Mainz (Florian Claus) come. The other musicians were also on stage primarily as actors or musical performers before their engagement at Voxxclub.

The debut album Alpin was released in March 2013 and reached the top 30 in Germany and Austria, where it lasted for several weeks. In Switzerland it reached the top 50 for two weeks. The single Rock mi reached 44th place in both Germany and Austria and stayed in the charts for ten weeks in Germany and seven weeks in Austria. For Oktoberfest , the album was re-released with five additional songs and returned to the charts just like the single. The title Rock mi became a popular song at Oktoberfest as interpreted by Voxxclub.

2014 voXXclub was for an ECHO in the category Folk Music nominated the ECHO 2014 but received in this category Santiano .

In the same year the group released the album Ziwui, which was produced in Hamburg with Roland Spremberg . The title of the album goes back to the Tyrolean folk song Ziwui, Ziwui (“Das Lied der Vogelfänger”, also called “Höttinger Vogelfängerlied”), but apart from the name it is a completely new composition.

Voxxclub was on a solo tour in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2014 and were on the "Fest der Feste" tour in the same year.

On May 4th, 2015, the members announced on their Facebook page that Julian David is leaving the band and the five of them will continue. In May 2015, Voxxclub recorded the song So wie heute for the 2015 Women's World Cup with Nadine Angerer , goalkeeper of the German national soccer team and former world soccer player . In 2015 Voxxclub were again guests on the tour "Fest der Feste - The party goes on".

In 2015 Voxxclub was nominated for an ECHO in the "Folk Music" category for the album "Ziwui".

In February 2016 Voxxclub released their third album "Geiles Himmelblau". They went on a solo tour in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and released the resulting DVD "Geiles Himmelblau - Live".

In 2017 Voxxclub was nominated for the third time for the ECHO in the category "Folk Music". From March to May 2017 Voxxclub was a guest on the tour "The great Schlagerfest" in Germany and Austria.

On February 22, 2018, the band took part in our song for Lisbon , the German preliminary decision for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest .

After the riots at right-wing rallies in Chemnitz in 2018 , the band emphasized: "We would support a concert against right-wing violence and right-wing agitation at any time and be there."
