Alpin is the debut album by the German new folk music band Voxxclub . With the release of this album on March 15, 2013 Voxxclub became known.

background

It all started with the nightly kitchen parties in Michael "Michi" Hartinger and Julian David's flat share in Munich . This resulted in a cappella concerts in the shared kitchen, which finally led to the founding of the band in 2010 with Christian Schild, Florian “Flo” Claus, Korbinian “Beatbox-Bini” Arendt and Stefan Raaflaub as singer and Martin Simma as producer. Since then, they have worked on their first debut album, Alpin , for two years . Michael Hartinger was acquainted with producer Martin Simma, who finally made contact with Universal , where the band then signed their first record deal. The album, which consists of both his own and other people's compositions, was finally released on March 15, 2013.

David said in an interview with Schlagerplanet that it was difficult to bring the six opinions of the six band members under one roof. The selection of songs was still democratic, although everyone wanted to put about a hundred songs on the record. A quote from Julian:

"(...) and then it was a bit like the election of the Pope: the lederhosen smoked until finally white smoke came for 13 songs."

style

The debut album Alpin includes cover versions of other bands. In contrast to the original versions, voXXclub does not use instruments, but beatboxing and the vocal imitation of instruments. The songs are newly set to music in a trendy mixture of folk music , rock and hits . The a cappella singing with folk music sound, also called "A Cappella VolXpop", was something new.

Beatboxer Korbinian Arendt said according to Schlagerplanet:

"It's folk music, but not typical folk music, we use different dialects and try to create something new - a mixture of traditional elements with modern beats."

VoXXclub has rehearsed a Schuhplattler for the first song of the debut album Alpin . The Schuhplattler then finds himself in the middle of the album as the background rhythm for Solang the bells are ringing . Julian dedicated the ballad Ewige Liebe to a past love. The soft tones make it seem as if she hits the fans the deepest. Another ballad is Wild's Wasser , the last song on the album in the standard edition. Influences from rock music can also be seen on the album, such as Juchee auf der Hohe Alm , Dahoam is Dahoam and Autobahn . The band often named Andreas Gabalier , La Brass Banda and Claudia Koreck as inspiration .

"Rock mi" and flash mobs

VoXXclub achieved their breakthrough with the song Rock mi . In the run-up to the Oktoberfest 2013, Rock mi was a candidate for the Oktoberfest hit in the tz's online voting , but ultimately da Rocka & da Waitler won with their song When the world goes under - JaJaJaJa so schee! .

VoXXclub had asked its fans via Facebook to come to the Riem Arcaden shopping center in Munich on February 16, 2013 . Together they staged a flash mob in which they surprised unsuspecting passers-by with shows and dance performances. Thus, a very spontaneous concert took place with the band quickly emerging as well as disappearing again. The video for this flash mob became an internet hit, it got a lot of clicks on YouTube and many fans shared the video with their friends on Facebook.

During the summer of 2013, more flash mobs followed, for example in the "Waldwirtschaft Großhesselohe" beer garden in Munich or at the Munich Spring Festival . They were also hired for flash mobs. A further development was TV crashing, in which voXXclub interrupts the live recording. For example, on January 31, 2014. the ARD telecast Star-Biathlon in Olympic Ski Stadium in -Partenkirchen Garmisch invited.

Re-releases

Re-release album Alpin

Due to the great demand, voXXclub launched a re-release on September 20, 2013 . Compared to the first publication, Rosamunde and Autobahn can no longer be found here, but there are now five new songs to be heard as well as a remix of the hit single Rock mi by Hartmut Krech and Mark Nissen, which was already released on September 11, 2013. With this album, voXXclub managed to return to the charts in time for the Oktoberfest.
