Wadim Jurjewitsch Karpow ( Russian Вадим Юрьевич Карпов ; English transcription: Vadim Yuryevich Karpov ; born July 14, 2002 in Kotlas ) is a Russian football player who is under contract with the first division club CSKA Moscow . The central defender has been a Russian U17 international since August 2018 .
Career
society
Vadim Karpov was born in Kotlas and started playing football there at an early age. In 2009 he moved with his family to St. Petersburg , where he joined the youth department of the local club Zenit St. Petersburg . There he started as a striker , but was soon used as a goalkeeper. Because of this, he soon switched to the SShOR Zenit St. Petersburg, a sports school. At the age of 15 he was invited to trial training at Lokomotiv Moscow and the CSKA Moscow . He ended up with the last one. There he played for the junior team and was promoted to the first team of head coach Wiktar Hantscharenka for the 2019/20 season at the age of 17 .
On September 19, 2019, he made his debut for the first team in the 5-1 away defeat against Bulgarian club Ludogorez Razgrad in the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League , as five defenders were injured and he moved into the starting lineup. Three days later he was also in the starting line-up for a 3-2 home win in the Premjer League against FK Krasnodar . Despite the gradual return of the injured defenders, Karpov stayed in the lineup of Hantscharenkas and established himself as a regular in central defense .
National team
Between November 2017 and April 2018, Karpov played 13 friendly international matches for the Russian U16 national team .
He has been the Russian U17 international since August 2018 .
