The constituency of Chemnitz, Land I was a state electoral district for the state elections in Saxony in 1990 , the first state election after the re-establishment of the state of Saxony. Its constituency number was 65.

The constituency comprised parts of the Chemnitz-Land district : Auerswalde , Bräunsdorf , Burgstädt , Claußnitz , Diethensdorf , Garnsdorf , Hartmannsdorf , Kellers , Köthensdorf-Reitzenhain , Limbach-Oberfrohna , Markersdorf b. Burgstädt , Mohsdorf , Mühlau , Niederfrohna , Niederlichtenau , Oberlichtenau , Pleißa , Röhrsdorf , Taura b. Burgstädt and Wittgensdorf .

For the 1994 state elections , the constituency structure was changed as a result of the district reform, and the number of constituencies was reduced from 80 to 60. The area of ​​the constituency of Chemnitz, Land I was divided into two constituencies in 1994. Since a large part of the towns and municipalities of the constituency were included in the newly formed Mittweida district , these places changed to the newly formed Mittweida 2 constituency . Only the places Bräunsdorf , Kellers , Limbach-Oberfrohna , Niederfrohna , Pleißa and Röhrsdorf , now part of the district of Chemnitzer Land , changed to the constituency of Chemnitzer Land 2 .
