The constituency no. 8 ( polish okręg wyborczy nr 8 ) is since 2011 existing constituency for the election of the Senate of the Republic of Poland and was based on the wyborczy Kodeks of January 5, 2011 (Journal of Laws 2011 nr 21 poz. 112) built. Parliamentary election 2011

The election took place on October 9, 2011.

Of the three incumbent senators of the former constituency No. 3, all Platforma Obywatelska, all ran in the 2011 parliamentary elections: Władysław Sidorowicz , Minister for Health and Social Affairs in the Bielecki cabinet and senator in his second term, ran unsuccessfully for the Sejm in the constituency No. 3 . Jarosław Duda , a member of the Sejm between 2004 and 2007 and a senator in his first term, started in constituency no. 6 and was able to defend his mandate there. Leon Kieres , Senator in the 4th and 7th electoral terms , ran in the newly established constituency No. 8.

In the constituency three candidates competed: Reigning Senator Leon Kieres for the Civic Platform, the former presidential candidate Kornel Morawiecki for his own voters Election Committee (supported by the Prawo i Sprawiedliwość , questioned the no candidate in the constituency) and the acting deputy mayor of Wroclaw Jaroslaw Obremski for Rafał Dutkiewicz's electoral committee . Jarosław Obremski ran for re-election in the constituency, this time for his own electoral committee Obremski - niezależny Senator z Wrocławia (Obremski - independent senator from Wroclaw) , but found support from Prawo i Sprawiedliwość and Polska Razem , who did not nominate a candidate in the constituency themselves. Józef Pinior was the only candidate against Obremski for KW Platforma Obywatelska RP. Pinior was a member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2009 and was also the incumbent senator for the electoral term ( constituency no. 2 ).

Obremski prevailed again and entered his second term as senator.
