Waldstadt (Zossen)

The Waldstadt is a formerly independent municipality part of the Zossen district of Wünsdorf in the district of Teltow-Fläming , Brandenburg . It is located around 20 kilometers south of Berlin.

history

The village of Zehrensdorf was originally located on the site , which was cleared in 1911, repopulated in 1921 and finally cleared in 1936. The "Forbidden City" was used for military purposes on a continuous basis, with one interruption in the 1920s, and the underground facilities from 1939 to 1994.

In 1910 an imperial military training area and a garrison were established. The command center of the German Army Command (OKH) followed in 1935 and from 1945 the main command post of the Soviet Armed Forces Group (GSSD) and the 16th Soviet Air Army (16th LA) with the last code names "RANET" and "WIMPEL". From 1974 to 1990 the German / Soviet United Headquarters 14 (code name "KASSATOR") also existed here . Under the leadership of the German Air Force , this facility was continued as a German-Russian airspace coordination office (LUKO), now civil / military, until the GSSD was completely withdrawn in 1994.

The community of Waldstadt was founded on February 16, 1996. Your parish was previously parish-free. Just two years later , it was incorporated into Wünsdorf on September 27, 1998 .

The area can be accessed via the historical circular route through the Forbidden City .
