Valery Sergeyevich Skvortsov

Valery Sergejewitsch Skworzow ( Russian Валерий Сергеевич Скворцов , English transcription Valeriy Skvortsov; born May 31, 1945 in Berdychiv ) is a former Russian - Soviet high jumper .

A 14th place at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo was followed by a victory at the Universiade in 1965.

In 1966 he won gold at the European Indoor Games in Dortmund and bronze at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest .

In 1968 he won the European Indoor Games in Madrid and finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Mexico City .

At the EM in 1969 in Athens he was eighth and at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1970 in Vienna sixth.

In 1966 and 1968 he became Soviet champion. He set his personal best of 2.21 m on May 29, 1966 in Moscow .
