Walk on Jindal's Splinters is a live album by Jello Biafra , which Jello Biafra recorded in 2011 with the band The New Orleans Raunch and Soul All-Stars. It was released on May 12, 2015 via Alternative Tentacles as CD, LP and download.
History of origin
Jello Biafra was invited to New Orleans by Bill Davies of Dash Rip Rock in 2011 to play a club gig with old rock 'n' roll , garage rock , blues and soul classics with the guitarist during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival to play. Biafra found a band consisting of Fred LeBlanc ( Cowboy Mouth ), Pete Gordon ( Mojo Nixon ), with whom he had already worked on the album Prairie Home Invasion (1994), and Pepper Keenan ( Corrosion of Confirmity ). A brass ensemble consisting of the two bands Morning 40 Federation and Egg Yolk Jubilee joined them. Davies took over the musical direction.
The gig finally took place on May 8, 2011 at The 12 Bar in New Orleans. The album was recorded by BJ Lehn. After an initial rough mix, the recording seemed to be unusable, but finally Ben Mumphrey, who was present at the gig, took over the production and finished the album in the "Studio in the Country" in Washington Parish . The concert starts suddenly on the CD with the first song Ooh-Poo-Pah-Doo , as the beginning was not recorded.
A first single was planned for Record Store Day on April 18, 2015, but was rejected by the organizers because they wanted to offer fewer 7 '' singles that year. Instead, the single Fannoe Mae / Just a Little Bit was released on April 14, 2015 with a large sticker "Rejected by Record Store Day".
The album was released on May 12, 2015 via Alternative Tentacles as CD, LP and download album. Both the CD version and the download version contain the tracks from the single as a bonus track .
Cover artwork
The cover shows a drawing of Jello Biafra's head with a headgear in the shape of a truncated cone and sunglasses. the cover is yellow and red. The album title is a corruption of the song Walk on Guilded Splinters and alludes to Bob Jindal , the incumbent governor of the state of Louisiana since 2008 .

music
The song material consists mainly of rhythm and blues classics from the 1950s and 1960s. Musically, the recording moves between soul, rock and punk rock, which is particularly characterized by Biafras tremolo singing. The type of presentation and the way of presentation evoke memories of the Blues Brothers . The sound is raw and direct.
