Wallyson Ricardo Maciel Monteiro , called Wallyson , (born October 17, 1988 in Macaíba , RN ) is a Brazilian football player .

Career

Wallyson was one of the highlights in Série C at ABC Natal in 2007 . With 16 goals, he was a major contributor to the rise in the Série B . In 2008 he moved to Atletico Paranaense , but did not have a good start in Curitiba . At first he was out for a long time because of a pubic bone inflammation and then needed some time to rebuild the necessary fitness for the first team. The first success came in 2009 with winning the Campeonato Paranaense . In 2010 he dropped out again for a short time due to a concussion that he suffered in a game.

On July 29, 2010, the player was introduced as a reinforcement at the Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . The football director Fonseca Dimas presented in detail the functionality of the investors who made the hiring possible. The player signed a two-year contract and the club received 30 percent of the economic rights in future negotiations. He made his debut on August 22nd. On September 15, he scored his first goal for the team in the 4-2 win over Guarani FC . In early 2011, Wallyson quickly secured his place in the starting XI. He also scored two goals in the first two games in the 2011 Copa Libertadores and quickly took the lead in the top scorer list. The club was eliminated in the round of 16. Wallyson was at the end of the tournament, alongside Roberto Nanni of Club Cerro Porteño, the top scorer with seven goals each. On August 7, 2011, Wallyson suffered a broken ankle during the game between Cruzeiro and Internacional Porto Alegre . To do this, he had to undergo a two-hour operation. After a long recovery and rehab, the striker returned in an official match in 2012, against the Guarani-MG. In December 2012, however, the player received the approval to look for a new club at the turn of the year.

On January 11, 2013 he was announced as a new addition to São Paulo FC . Four months later, on May 10, 2013, Wallyson was suspended. The cause was his poor training performance. As a result, Wallyson had few chances on Ney Franco's team . In July 2013 Wallyson joined the team from EC Bahia from Salvador da Bahia on a loan contract until the end of the year. He scored his first goal on July 31st.

Another loan followed for the 2014 season. On January 22, 2014, Wallyson joined the Carioca team until the end of the year. At Botafogo he made his debut at international club level. He made his debut in the Copa Libertadores 2014 against Deportivo Quito , where the team lost 1-0 in the first leg. In the second leg he scored three goals and thus secured Botafogo participation in the group stage of the competition.

At the end of the season, the loan from Botafogo and the contract with São Paulo ended. Wallyson joined Coritiba FC on a free transfer . The player changed clubs again in the following season. He signed a contract with Santa Cruz FC . For the 2017 season, Wallyson received offers from his former club ABC as well as from Vila Nova FC . He accepted the offer from Vila Nova. In the following year, 2018, he went to ABC. With this, Wallyson was able to win the state championship of Rio Grande do Norte in 2018 . After the competition, the player went on loan to EC Vitória .

At the start of the 2019 season with the state championships, Wallyson was announced as a loan from Clube de Regatas Brasil on February 1 . On February 12, the club announced that the contract would not be signed due to the medical examination. At the end of May 2019, Wallyson canceled the contract with Maldonado and now permanently switched to ABC. In mid-October 2019, the club prematurely extended the contract with him until the end of 2020.
