Walter Drude

August Wilhelm Theodor Hermann Walter Drude (born February 23, 1863 in Opperhausen , † November 22, 1931 in Helmstedt ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran pastor , general superintendent and school inspector .

Life

Walter Drude was born in 1863 as the son of a pastor in Opperhausen, today a town in the city of Einbeck . He attended high school in Holzminden and then studied Protestant theology in Tübingen , Leipzig and Erlangen from 1881 to 1884 . After completing his studies, he worked at the grammar school in Holzminden from 1885, initially as a collaborator , and later from 1889 as a religion teacher. He then held a pastor's position from 1891 to 1897 in Naensen , which today belongs to Einbeck . He subsequently moved to Stadtoldendorf as main pastor , superintendent and school inspector . In 1906 he was appointed to a newly established teaching position at the preacher's seminary in Wolfenbüttel. He was also a pastor in Atzum . Drude was appointed general superintendent in Gandersheim in 1914 , making him the last such official in the Braunschweigische Landeskirche , since the office of general superintendent was repealed in the new constitution of 1922. From 1916 until his retirement in 1930 he was a member of the regional synod . Drude died in Helmstedt in November 1931 at the age of 68.
