Walter Famler
Walter Famler (* 1958 in Bad Hall ) is an Austrian journalist , editor , public adviser , publicist , publisher , author and translator. He lives in Vienna .
Life
Walter Famler is Secretary General of the Alte Schmiede Art Association in Vienna. He has also been a member of the editorial team since 1983 and since 1997 publisher of the literary magazine Wespennest, which is also published in Vienna . In the early 1990s, Walter Famler added a book publisher to the magazine publishing company . In the edition of worms since the series were Edition Literature , edition essay and edition movie published.
In addition, Walter Famler became known as a passionate Juri Gagarin fan. He is the "commander of the KOCMOC / Gagarin group", which he founded in 1997 after a stay in Moscow. In this context, he has published two books dealing with the cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and Famler's enthusiasm for the first man in space . In an interview published in the Börsenblatt , he made the following comments:
“Famler: I am interested in the Gagarin character in terms of the history of ideas. [...] The first person in space was a Soviet Russian, Yuri Gagarin! […] In 1997 […] I came across the “Kosmos Pavilion” and happened to witness how the large space exhibition, actually a Gagarin propaganda exhibition, was dismantled and prepared for removal. An experience that replaces entire libraries for me about the decline and fall of great empires. [...] A spontaneous Dada decision: I wanted to save the head of Yuri Gagarin! We failed because of the project. But I also founded the Kocmoc / Gagarin group on site - with the aim of conjuring the smile of Yuri Gagarin on the faces of women worldwide. [...] "
Walter Famler is the initiator and advisor of the exhibition “Space. The art and a dream ”, which opened on April 1, 2011 in the Kunsthalle Wien .
Walter Famler has been a member of the Public Council of Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) since May 2018 .
