Walter Nicklitz

Walter Nicklitz (born November 28, 1911 in Rixdorf , † October 4, 1989 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SPD ). He was a councilor in the West Berlin magistrate, district councilor and member of the Berlin House of Representatives .

Life

Nicklitz finished 1938 his studies of Civil Engineering as an engineer , having already been a bricklayer had graduated. In the following years he worked as an architect in the architectural office Schlüter und Amstein, and later with the Altmärkische Kettenwerke . After the war he worked in the main office for building construction at the Magistrate of Greater Berlin. Nicklitz joined the SPD as early as 1932.

From 1949 to 1951 Walter Nicklitz was a member of the Reuter II municipal council and head of the Berlin building and housing department. After his resignation, he moved to the Berlin-Wedding district as a building city councilor and remained in office until 1971. From 1959 to 1965 Nicklitz was Deputy Mayor and temporarily a member of the House of Representatives. One of the focal points of his work was urban greening, which was awarded first prize in the 1956 federal competition Help through greenery on the outskirts of the city . After his work on the city council, Nicklitz worked again as an architect.

On December 6, 1974, Walter Nicklitz was awarded the Ernst Reuter plaque for his special services to Berlin , and on March 11, 1982 he was honored as city ​​elder . Walter Nicklitz received an honorary grave from the State of Berlin in the Parkfriedhof Neukölln . The politician received another honor with the naming of the Walter-Nicklitz-Promenade in the course of the Pankegrünzug . In the courtyard of the Ernst Reuter House in Berlin-Wedding, the "Walter Nicklitz Oak" reminds of him.
