Walter Seele (born September 14, 1924 in Minden ; † May 23, 2015 ) was a German geodesist and university lecturer for land management and land management.

Life

Walter Seele graduated from high school in Petershagen with his Abitur. As a soldier in the Wehrmacht , he was seriously wounded in the Kiev area . From 1946 to 1950, Seele studied geodesy and economics and social sciences at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn . He completed his studies in geodesy with Edmund Gassner . After completing his technical traineeship , he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Building and Cultural Technology with Edmund Gassner. In 1956, the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn received his doctorate as Dr.-Ing. The topic of the dissertation was the mutual relationships between urban planning and land value formation .

After positions as head of surveying and land registry and head of the property office in Wattenscheid , Darmstadt and Nuremberg , Seele followed the call of the newly founded University of Dortmund in 1968 . He built up the chair of surveying and land management at the spatial planning faculty . In 1975, Seele took over the newly founded chair for land management and land management at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn. Successors in Dortmund were Hartmut Dieterich and Benjamin Davy . Seele was co-founder of the European Faculty of Land Management in Strasbourg , where, in addition to his work in Bonn, he worked as a professor à la Faculté Européenne des Sciences du Foncier Strasbourg . He retired in 1989. He was succeeded by Erich Weiß . From 1991 to 1993, Seele was visiting professor at the newly established Chair for Land Management and Land Management at the Technical University of Dresden .
