War Eternal is the ninth album by the Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy . It was released by Century Media on June 6, 2014 . It is the band's first album with new singer Alissa White-Gluz and guitarist Nick Cordle.
Emergence
In early March 2014, the band announced that they would release a new album called War Eternal in June of the same year . On March 17, the singer, Angela Gossow , announced that she was leaving the band. She announced Alissa White-Gluz as her successor. Until then Gluz sang with the Canadian band The Agonist .

On March 20, the band released the first music video for the title song War Eternal . A few days later, the band released the cover, created by artist Costin Chioreanu, and the track listing. The release dates for the album are June 9th for Europe and June 10th for North America. In addition, a tour through Europe has been announced for May. In April, Arch Enemy introduced the song As the Pages Burn . The publication date has been brought forward to June 6th. The second video, No More Regrets , followed at the end of May . The album was finally released in Europe on June 6th.
A fourth music video for the song Stolen Life was released on May 5, 2015 .

Reviews
Trade magazines rated the album positively. Katrin Riedl from Metal Hammer praised the successful guitar riffs and the versatile pieces.
Sales figures
Two weeks after its release, the album reached chart positions in several countries. It was most successful in Finland, Japan and Germany, where it came in fifth, seventh and ninth respectively. It was also represented in the charts of Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Great Britain. This was the band's best placement to date. In the US, around 8,000 units were sold in the first week. It ranked 44th on the Billboard 200 .
