What about bob? is the title of an American comedy film from 1991 .
action
The New York psychiatrist Dr. Leo Marvin believes he has reached the top of the range. His new book "Baby Steps" is a bestseller , and the television show " Good Morning America " plans to come to his vacation home in Lake Winnipesaukee for a live interview .
Shortly before departure, the multiphobic neurotic Bob Wiley ( Bill Murray ) shows up in his practice. To get rid of him quickly, Leo simply puts his new book in his hand and goes on vacation.
But Bob thinks Dr. Marvin finally found release from his torments and travels to him on vacation. Whatever Dr. Marvin hires too, Bob just can't be shaken off anymore. On the contrary: Leo's family is more and more enthusiastic about the original guest. The doctor even has to let Bob sleep in a room with his son Sigmund and, grudgingly, lend him his pajamas.
When Bob snatches the live interview with “Good Morning America”, Leo is on the verge of going nuts. He lets Bob in the mental hospital ward of an old colleague. But everyone there is also enthusiastic about Bob, and Leo has to pick him up again. The desperate doctor is now becoming increasingly psychotic himself.
At Leo's birthday party, a relationship is clearly emerging between Bob and Leo's dearly beloved sister Lily. Leo then only sees the way out of killing Bob to finally get rid of him. He breaks into a gun shop, ties Bob up in the woods with two bags full of gunpowder and a time fuse and explains to him that this is a sophisticated treatment: "death therapy". However, Bob breaks free and puts the bags in Dr. Exit Marvin's house. When the family and Bob meet in the garden shortly afterwards, the house blows up in front of the family.
Dr. Marvin is finished. He ends up in the mental hospital completely broken and catatonic . Only during the church wedding ceremony of Bob and Lily does he come to. In the end credits, we learn that Bob went back to school and became a psychologist. He publishes the bestseller "Death Therapy" and is sued by Leo over the rights.
