Julie Hagerty (born June 15, 1955 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American actress and former model .

Life

Hagerty attended Indian Hill High School in Cincinnati and was signed to the international modeling agency Ford Models at the age of 15 . In 1972 she moved to New York City , where she began her acting career with her brother Michael's theater group The Production Company . In 1979 she made her acting debut in an off-Broadway production of Mutual Benefit Life . She made her debut on Broadway in 1986 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in a production of The House of Blue Leaves .

Hagerty made her film debut in 1980, starring stewardess Elaine Dickinson in the comedy The Incredible Journey in a Crazy Plane . The film was one of the financially most successful productions of 1980 and brought her other role offers, mainly in comedies. She starred in Woody Allen in A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy , and again slipped into the role of Elaine Dickinson in The Incredible Journey in a Crazy Spaceship . Only after the flop of Robert Altman's comedy Therapy Pointless (1987) did her career ebb.

Since the 1990s she has mainly played supporting roles in movies or appeared in television films and series. For her performance in the comedy Freddy Got Fingered , Hagerty was nominated for the Golden Raspberry in 2002. Hagerty was married to Peter Burki from 1986 to 1991. She has two children with insurance tycoon and theater producer Richard Kagan , to whom she is now married.
