Wayne Kramer (born May 26, 1965 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) is a South African film producer , director and screenwriter .

life and career

Wayne Kramer emigrated from South Africa to the USA in 1986. In 1992, his first film was released Blaze country , a horror - thriller , in which Kramer wrote the screenplay and directed himself. He was also responsible for the script and direction of the short film Crossing Over about immigrants to the USA with Jacqueline Obradors . Kramer wrote the original script for the psychological thriller Mindhunters ; the film was commissioned by Dimension Films by 20th Century Fox , and the script was rewritten.

Wayne Kramer celebrated his breakthrough as a director with the drama The Cooler - Alles auf Liebe , with William H. Macy in the lead role. The supporting actors Alec Baldwin and Maria Bello received several awards and also nominations at the 2004 Academy Awards and the 2004 Golden Globe Awards . The film itself won a Golden Trailer Award. In 2003, Kramer himself received nominations for the Grand Jury Prize of the Sundance Film Festival , for the Crystal Globe of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival , for a prize at the Deauville Film Festival and for the Golden Ear of the Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid .

In 2006 he directed the action thriller Running Scared , with Paul Walker and Cameron Bright in the lead roles and Karel Roden and Chazz Palminteri in the supporting roles. For Crossing Over (2009), a remake of his 1996 short film of the same name, Kramer wrote the script and directed it again. Harrison Ford , Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd played among others .

In 2013 Kramer's directorial work Gangster Chronicles was published, in which Elijah Wood , Paul Walker and Brendan Fraser can be seen among others .
