The Wedemann flows entirely in the geo-nature park Frau-Holle-Land (Werratal.Meißner.Kaufunger forest) . It rises northwest of the border from the Kassel district to the Werra-Meißner district in the Kaufunger Forest . Its source is around 800 m northwest of the summit of the Hirschberg ( 643.4  m above sea  level ), the summit of which belongs to the Werra-Meißner district. Slightly below a forest path, it is around 525  m above sea level.

The Wedemann initially flows northwest on the slope of the Hirschberg to Wickenrode , the easternmost part of the municipality of Helsa , and from then on flows westwards along the federal road 451 and the Märchenlandweg .

Around the confluence of the Lautenbach , the Wedemann reaches the core town of Helsa , where it passes between the Kaufunger Wald in the north and east and the Söhre in the south-west and west after crossing under the B 451 and Kreisstraße  7 at a height of about 250  m into the one coming from there from the south Fulda tributary Losse flows into it .
