Christmas is a German-Swiss TV episode drama from 2002 by Marc-Andreas Bochert . The film premiered on October 26, 2002 at the Hof International Film Festival .

action

The film shows Christmas Eve in a Cologne apartment building and portrays individual tenants: There is a dispute between web designer Peter and his girlfriend Katharina because Peter invited his ex-girlfriend Esther to the hip Christmas party. Katharina flees to her parents and gets stuck in the elevator - together with Kai, Esther's date. At the same time, Mirijam is celebrating Christmas Eve with her friend Wolfgang, who has just converted to Judaism, when Wolfgang's mother suddenly bursts in, who until now had no idea of Wolfgang's step. Ms. Maschke, the kiosk owner, is looking forward to a peaceful Christmas with her daughter and her husband, who however prefers to go around the houses with his boyfriend. Last but not least, policeman Ben has been assigned to duty to be close to Tanja. When the two are called to the apartment building, the individual episodes begin to link up.

reception

The film website kino.de judged that Bochert let his characters, like Andreas Dresen, “steer towards smaller and larger catastrophes and tragedies”. In doing so, “they have a glimmer of hope, symbolized in the fiery red of the flare rocket sent into the Cologne Christmas sky for the small but fine finale”. The film is "full of poetry and melancholy - a film that triggers feelings".
