Weindorf is a village in the municipality of St. Georgen am Längsee in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia . The village has 42 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). It lies in the area of ​​the Launsdorf cadastral community .

location

The village is located in the center of the Sankt Veit an der Glan district, in the north of the municipality of Sankt Georgen am Längsee, on the right-hand side (i.e. to the west) in the Gurk valley , which narrows here between Krappfeld and Launsdorfer Senke . it consists of

  • a settlement in the area of ​​the old town center, where the Höllweg leading from St. Georgen via Rottenstein flows into the Gurk valley
  • a settlement (at the time of the Franziszeischen cadastre there was only the Schusterkeusche ) 300 m north of the old town center
  • a small settlement (has existed since the 20th century) 300 m southeast of the old town center, beyond the Crown Prince Rudolf Railway
  • a farm (has existed since the second half of the 20th century) around 1 km north of the old town center

The Weindorfermühle and its outbuildings, which were located about 800 m north of the old town center on the Gurk, came down soon after the middle of the 20th century.

The place is mentioned as a wine village in 1256 , which apparently points to the viticulture practiced here at the time.

Lying in the area of ​​the tax community Launsdorf, the place belonged to the tax district Osterwitz in the first half of the 19th century . Since the formation of the local congregations in the course of the reforms after the 1848/49 revolution, Weindorf has belonged to the municipality of Sankt Georgen am Längsee.
