Zensberg is a village in the municipality of St. Georgen am Längsee in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia . The village has 3 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). It lies in the area of ​​the Launsdorf cadastral community .

location

The village is located in the Sankt Veiter Hügelland in the center of the Sankt Veit an der Glan district, in the north of the municipality of Sankt Georgen am Längsee. The Längsee is about one and a half kilometers west of the village , and Rottenstein Castle is just under one kilometer southwest of the village.

history

Zemsberch is mentioned in a document as early as 1162 . The place name is derived from the Slovenian personal name Sem.

Lying in the area of ​​the tax community Launsdorf , the place belonged to the tax district Osterwitz in the first half of the 19th century . When the local congregations were formed in the course of the reforms after the revolution of 1848/49, Zensweg came to the community of St. Georgen am Längsee.

An earthquake on the night of June 22, 1920 collapsed the ceiling of a house in Zensberg, killing four people.
