history
Werlaburgdorf was an important part of the empire several times in earlier centuries. This was at the time when the kings and emperors of the Middle Ages did not have a permanent residence. They moved from Palatinate ("palace", from Latin palatium ; Old High German phalanza ) to Palatinate and held their court days. One of the most important palatinates was the royal palace Werla , which under Emperor Heinrich II lost its rank in favor of the imperial palace Goslar and has only recently been rediscovered.
The historical site, in the place of which the "Werla Archeology Park" was established , can be easily reached from Schladen on a 2 km long walk along the Wedde , then along the Oker . On November 1, 2013 Werlaburgdorf became a district of Schladen-Werla together with other places. The last mayor was Helmut Wilm (CDU).
