The Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium ( WHG ) in Heide has been a high school that has existed since at least 1897 . It is an all-day school and since 2011/2012 part of the " Competence Center for Talented Students Secondary I and Second Second ".

history

The current WHG was first mentioned in 1897 when the responsible authority at the time suggested that the middle school should be turned into a secondary school. This proposal was complied with in 1902, from October 1902 to 1903 a new plot of land in Rosenstrasse was advertised and purchased, and new teachers were recruited. In 1904 the first sports hall was built, in 1905 the first headmaster was officially appointed and in 1906 he moved into what is now the "old building" - the following year the first pupils completed their secondary school examination. After the expansion to the secondary school in 1908, classes were canceled for the first time in the winter of 1917 because there was a lack of heating coal. Girls were allowed to visit from 1919, in 1933 it was renamed “ Adolf Hitler School”, between 1939 and 1945 only classes were held with interruptions due to a lack of coal. In May 1945 the school was closed by the British Army and only in 1946 as "Gymnasium Rosenstrasse" reopened. School fees have not been paid since 1951 . The annex was built between 1966 and 1968, the upper school level was introduced in 1971/72 and in 1973 the highest number of students was reached with 1,326 registered people. In 1975 the Heide-Ost grammar school was opened and the number of students fell. In May 1976 the name was changed to the current name " Werner-Heisenberg -Gymnasium". The cafeteria , which was closed in 2011 in favor of the cafeteria (opened in 2009), was established in 1995. In the same year the first musical "Land of Dreams" was performed. The WHG has been connected to the Internet since 1997, and since 2000 there is no longer any instruction on Saturday by a school vote.
