Renate and Werner Leismann (1980)

Renate and Werner Leismann (also known as the Leismann siblings ) were a German singing duo in the field of hit and popular music .

Career

The siblings Renate (born April 16, 1942 ; † February 3, 2016 in Schmallenberg- Holthausen ) and Werner Leismann (born December 31, 1936 ; † April 21, 2015 in Schmallenberg) were born in Schmallenberg in the Sauerland . There they grew up and went to school. Both learned the profession of textile designer (at Falke-Moden , also in Schmallenberg).

At the end of the 1950s, they were invited by Peter Frankenfeld to his television program "Toi, toi, toi" and then known to a larger audience. The two released their first record and in 1962 their first hit (Gaucho Mexicano) , which was followed by numerous others. In the list of the annual hit parade in 1963 , the title Gaucho Mexicano came in 5th place. In the Bravo annual charts in 1963 , it was in 7th place. The duo were later regular guests on numerous television and radio programs and received several gold records .

The siblings took part in the German Schlager Festival in Baden-Baden in 1965 , but only achieved 9th place with Life is wonderful and 11th place with Mir and you . From 1968 to 1970 a jury nominated the couple from numerous submitted titles for the German Schlager Competition in 1968, 1969 and 1970 . In 1969, the siblings came in 7th place in the end result with the title Come to my green side . In 1968 and 1970 the titles could not qualify for the finals.

After switching to producer Jack White in 1973, the siblings celebrated another, albeit last, great success with A Sleeping Bag and a Guitar , with which they could also be seen in the film Our Auntie is the Last in the same year . This song has since been recorded by numerous other artists and is one of the evergreens of German pop hits. The duo appeared on television until the 1980s, when health problems became more quiet around the couple.

In January 2010 came the comeback with the single Das Rothaarsteig-Lied , a decoupling from the album Goldene Hits , which was released at the same time , produced by Werner Leismann, Gerd Skolmar and Chris Mike . On October 22, 2010 the singing duo was awarded the gold record for life's work and 50 years of stage presence.

With the album The Big Hit Collection , Renate and Werner Leismann entered the German album charts at number 18 on March 13, 2015. The double CD contains old hits and 15 songs released for the first time.

Werner Leismann lived in Moosthenning ( Bavaria ), his wife Brigitte died in 2008. Seven years later, Werner Leismann died of a stroke in his hometown.

Renate Leismann lived in Schmallenberg and was married to the US radio and tour manager Gerd Skolmar.
