Wernsdorf is a district of Berga / Elster in the Greiz district in Thuringia .
geography
Wernsdorf is a row village with the character of a forest hoof village . It is located between 260 and 330 meters above sea level in the Thuringian Slate Mountains on a plateau east of the Elsterniederung, sloping westward in a narrow left-hand side valley of the Fuchsbach. Forest stands on the eastern slopes of the Elsteraue before the agricultural areas of Wernsdorf connect. The neighboring district to the south is Albersdorf , followed by Berga's Schlossberg, on which the castle once stood. The state road 2336 leads via Wolfersdorf and connects to the district road to Wernsdorf.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1306. In 2012, 160 people lived in the district.
Attractions
Village church
The listed late romantic church has its structural origins in the 12th century. In the 19th century the church tower got its present appearance. In 1990 a crucifix by the Zwickau carver Peter Breuer from 1500 was redesigned during restoration work .
