The Werreniederung and Haferbach area is a nature reserve designated in 2005 by the Detmold regional council (NSG number LIP – 082) in the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Lage in the Lippe district in Germany .

location

The approximately 52 hectare large nature reserve Werre lowland and oat Bach is one natural area to Lipper Bergland . It extends along the Werre and Haferbach , around three and a half kilometers northwest of downtown Lagens, southeast and northwest of the Pottenhausen district .

description

The Werreniederung and Haferbach protected area is described as an area with “old beech forests, old riparian wood, alluvial forest communities, gravel banks, ponds and steep walls”.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the “preservation of a largely natural brook with riparian wood, fragments of alluvial forest as a networking biotope in the Werre water system”.

Flora and fauna

Of the flora worthy of protection, the " species of the red list of endangered plants in North Rhine-Westphalia" occurring in the area are to be mentioned:

• European white elm ( Ulmus laevis )
• Flooding water buttercup ( Ranunculus fluitans )
