West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine was a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 as one of nine constituencies in the electoral region of North East Scotland , which was redesigned and expanded to ten constituencies as part of the constituencies' revision in 2011. Here the constituency of West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine was abolished. It comprised the sparsely populated southwestern areas of the Council Area Aberdeenshire with the towns of Ballater , Banchory and Stonehaven . The areas are largely absorbed into the new constituencies of Aberdeenshire West and Angus North and Mearns . In terms of area, West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine was the largest constituency in the electoral region of North East Scotland and sent one MP. In the 2001 census survey, a total of 81,231 people lived within its borders.
