Wilhelm Hohaus (born June 30, 1844 in Niederhannsdorf , Glatz district , province of Silesia ; † December 25, 1909 in Grafenort , Habelschwerdt district ) was a German theologian, pedagogue and local history researcher. From 1901 to 1909 he was United dean of up to 1972 Archdiocese Prague belonging Glatz . At the same time he was Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Prague in Prussia .

Life

Wilhelm Hohaus was the son of a farmer. After graduating from the Royal High School in Glatz , he studied theology at the University of Breslau . On 28 June 1869 he was in Breslau for priests ordained. He then continued his studies in archives and libraries in Switzerland, Italy and Austria. In 1871 he received his doctorate at the theological faculty of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg .

After a brief activity as a chaplain in Ludwigsdorf, he worked for ten years in the same position in Bad Reinerz . He was then transferred to the Habelschwerdter teacher training college as a religion teacher and, in the same capacity, to the royal grammar school in Glatz in 1884 . There he was at the same time rain on the associated Konvikt .

After Edmund Scholz was appointed pastor of Grafenort in 1886 , he was succeeded by Wilhelm Hohaus, who in addition to his teaching post also worked extensively in the area of ​​Grafschafter Heimatkunde, as editor of the "Vierteljahrsschrift zur Geschichte und Heimatkunde der Grafschaft Glatz". In 1901 Hohaus was appointed grand dean and vicar for the County of Glatz. Later he was appointed papal house prelate and apostolic protonotarius .

Wilhelm Hohaus died on December 25, 1909 and was buried in the Habelschwerdter cemetery. His tomb has been preserved to this day.
