William John Kenny

William John Kenny (born October 14, 1853 in Delhi , New York , USA , † October 24, 1913 in Baltimore ) was Bishop of Saint Augustine .

Life

William John Kenny studied Catholic theology and philosophy at St. Bonaventure University in Allegany . He received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Saint Augustine on January 15, 1879 . Kenny became the pastor of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Jacksonville , Florida . In 1889 William John Kenny became Vicar General of the Diocese of Saint Augustine.

On March 15, 1902, Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Saint Augustine. The Archbishop of Baltimore , James Gibbons , ordained him episcopal on May 18 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Savannah , Benjamin Joseph Keiley , and the Vicar Apostolic of North Carolina , Leo Michael Haid, OSB .
