The corridor is characterized by wide arable land and is geologically located in the area of the upper shell limestone , often overlaid by fertile loess .

history

The guard hill is on the way to Wormstedt and was the location of a ceramic burial mound in which the Slavs were reburied for a long time. It is believed that it also served cultic purposes.

As an extension of Dornburg Castle, "Wiltorf", first mentioned in 1321 in a document from the Michaeliskloster Jena, was mentioned in the 12th / 13th century. Century was founded by clearing the forest areas north of Dornburg. The lords of Wilsdorf appeared as landlords until the 15th century. The oldest tradition of court owners comes from the period from 1421 to 1425. The place belonged to the Ernestine Office of Dornburg , which was founded in the 14th century and which, due to several divisions, belonged to various Ernestine duchies . From 1815 the place was part of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach , which in 1850 incorporated it into the Weimar II administrative district ( Apolda administrative district ).

There is evidence of a chapel since 1506, which was probably no longer in use after the Reformation and therefore fell into disrepair. A small bell house has been preserved to this day.

On March 16, 1963, Wilsdorf was incorporated into Dornburg / Saale.

Worth seeing

On the outskirts of Dornburg, next to a lime tree that was newly planted in 2014, there is a stone cross made of shell limestone . It has a Latin cross shape and some hardly noticeable incisions, which are said to have depicted a crossbow. A circular cup is incorporated on the top.
