The Wipperaller historically in the Vorsfelder Werder

The Wipperaller historically in the Vorsfelder Werder

The Wipperaller is a 13 km long tributary of the Aller , which rises in Parsau ( Gifhorn district ) and flows into the Aller orographically from the right in the Wolfsburg district of Vorsfelde .

geography

The Wipperaller runs on the Vorsfelder Werder and limits it to the east in the lower reaches. It arises as a forest stream east of Tiddische near the White Mountain in the Parsau area and strives in a southwestern direction. Between Hoitlingen and Eischott it enters the meadow landscape, turns to the southeast and passes Velstove to the north. There it flows through the area of the former Wipperteich towards Brechtorf . At the Wippermühle, it bends sharply to the southwest and runs in a straight line and parallel to the Mittelland Canal east of Wendschott and Vorsfelde. There it borders the nature reserve Wendschotter and Vorsfelder Drömling with Kötherwiesen , which extends on both sides of the canal.

As far as the Wippermühle, the borders between Tiddische and Rüßen and between Wolfsburg and the Gifhorn district run mainly along the stream.

Surname

The origin of the name of the word Wipper is not clear. It can indicate rocking land because the ground is boggy. Another explanation is the naming by the Slavic tribe of the Wends , who settled on the Vorsfeld Werder until the Middle Ages. Wipper comes from the Old Slavic word vepri for boar. Other waters in the area have also been named after Slavic animal or plant names.

Water quality

For the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive , the Wipperaller is listed by NLWKN as water body 14023 and assigned to the type of sand- shaped lowland stream . As of 2009, the creek was rated as “good” with regard to chemical pollution, but as “bad” with regard to the overall ecological quality, i.e. with a grade of 5. In the forest area, the Wipperaller is certified to have a partially natural course, but there it sometimes falls dry . The rest of the straightened course is described as "monotonous" and poor in vegetation near the shore. The nutrient-rich inputs from agriculture and the inflows of surface water from the local areas also have a negative impact. In the data sheet are u. a. Restructuring of the watercourse, bank planting and improvements to the bed structure proposed.
