Science Award Lower Saxony
With the Lower Saxony Science Prize , the state of Lower Saxony honors researchers from universities in Lower Saxony who “have made a significant contribution to the state's higher education development”.
The prize has been awarded since 2007. The award is made by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture as part of an event.
Awards have been in the following categories since 2010:
- outstanding scientists at universities (25,000 euros)
- outstanding scientists at universities of applied sciences (25,000 euros)
- outstanding young scientists (20,000 euros) and
- Earnings from students (2,500 euros, endowed with 1,500 euros until 2012)
In 2018 a category “teaching” was added.
The award for students goes to people who "go beyond their outstanding achievements in their studies in other areas, such as student self-administration or voluntary activities, or who take on special family responsibility."
