Volodymyr Kysselev

Volodymyr Wiktorowytsch Kysseljow ( Ukrainian Володимир Вікторович Кисельов , Russian Владимир Викторович Киселёв Vladimir Viktorovich Kiselyov * 1. January 1957 in Kremenchuk , Ukraine ) is a former Ukrainian athlete who for the Soviet Union took. With a height of 1.86 m, his competition weight was 125 kg.

The 1975 European junior champion Wolodymyr Kysseljow won bronze in the shot put at the European Indoor Championships in 1979 with 20.01 m, behind the Finn Reijo Ståhlberg (20.47 m) and the British Geoff Capes (20.23 m).

Kysselev's greatest international success was winning the gold medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow with an Olympic record of 21.35 m in the last attempt. Kysseljow had been in the lead with 21.10 m since the first attempt. Second was the ex- world record holder Alexandr Baryschnikow with 21.08 m in front of the reigning world record holder Udo Beyer with 21.06 m. Reijo Ståhlberg and Geoff Capes took 4th and 5th place.

In 1982 Kysseljow was able to occupy fourth place at the European Indoor Championships with 19.55 m, at the European Open Air Championships he was seventh with 20.40 m.

Kysseljow became champions of the Soviet Union in 1982 and 1984. Kysseljow set his personal best of 21.58 m in 1984. However , due to the Soviet Olympic boycott, he was unable to take part in the 1984 Olympic Games .
