Wolf of Pfuel

Wolf Kurt Ernst Adalbert von Pfuel (born December 4, 1809 in Berlin , † August 9, 1866 in Pohrlitz near Brno ) was Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the 3rd Cavalry Brigade.

Life

origin

Wolf came from the old to Jahnsfelde in the Brandenburg Switzerland -based noble family of Pfuel . His parents were General Ernst Adolf Heinrich von Pfuel (born November 3, 1779 - † December 3, 1866) and his wife Karoline von Byern (born November 1, 1786 - † October 22, 1843).

Career

He came on December 21, 1825 as a hussar in the 10th Hussar Regiment . There he was transferred to the 11th Hussar Regiment on December 13, 1827, and on April 10, 1828 . On January 15, 1829, he was initially a surplus second lieutenant and on January 15, 1830 was assigned. From April 1, 1832 to October 1, 1833 he was assigned to the teaching cadron and sent to Neuchatel for 1 year on May 1, 1835 .

On March 17, 1848 he came to the Guard Dragoon Regiment and was initially aggregated there . After he had received his patent, he came on December 12, 1842 in the 1st Guard-Ulanen-Landwehr Regiment. On June 18, 1844, he was awarded the Swedish Order of the Swords, 3rd Class , and on November 13, 1845, he was appointed Rittmeister and Squadron Chief. On June 18, 1853, he became a major and August 13, 1853, he was appointed to the regular staff officers. On October 7, 1854 he was appointed director of the Guard Division School. From there he was transferred to the 11th Hussar Regiment as commander on April 30, 1857 and promoted to lieutenant colonel on May 22, 1858. There he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Dutch Oak Crown and on May 25, 1860 with the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd Class . Promoted to Colonel on July 1, 1860, he was also awarded the 3rd Class Order of the Crown on October 18, 1861 . Subsequently, on July 2, 1862, he was transferred to the 15th Cavalry Brigade as a commander and was placed à la suite with the 11th Hussar Regiment. On September 16, 1862 he came to the 3rd Cavalry Brigade as a commander, where he was promoted to major general on June 25, 1864. In addition, on June 11, 1864, he received the Order of the Crown, 2nd class . During the German War he was appointed commander of the 2nd Heavy Cavalry Brigade of the 1st Army on May 8, 1866 . He fought in the battle of Königgrätz and in the battle of Tobitschau.

Pfuel died of cholera two weeks before the peace was made on August 9, 1866, in Pohrlitz near Brno and was buried at the family's ancestral home in Jahnsfelde.

He married Marie Karoline Theodore von Lamprecht on May 18, 1843 in Berlin (* July 29, 1823, † October 13, 1860). The couple had several children:
