Wolfgang Thüne (born March 4, 1943 in Rastenburg / East Prussia ) is a German meteorologist . He gained fame above all as a weather presenter for ZDF (1971–1986) and later through his thesis, which was represented in books from 1998, that there is no greenhouse effect .

Life

Career

From 1962 to 1967 Thüne studied meteorology, geophysics , physics , mathematics and geography at the University of Cologne and the Free University of Berlin . He then worked at the Frankfurt Weather Office and from 1968 was a trainee lawyer for the German Weather Service (DWD) . In 1969 the second state examination to become a weather service assessor followed. He then worked as a meteorologist in the DWD's analysis and forecasting center. In addition, he was a television meteorologist at ZDF from 1971 to 1986 . He has been with the Rhineland-Palatinate State Office for Environmental Protection since 1974. From 1982 to 1986 he completed a second degree at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg with the subjects of sociology , political science and geography.

In 1986 he took leave of absence from the State Office and began working as a representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for Brazil , based in Rio de Janeiro . In 1990 he returned to the Ministry of Environment was Rhineland-Palatinate appointed and became head of the department "Nature Scientific fundamental issues of environmental policy". At times he was on the Federal Government's “Climate Advisory Council” .

For the European elections in 1994 he planned to run for the small party Aufbruch 94 - German Free Voters' Association under the leadership of Johanna Grund . However, this failed because the necessary support signatures were provided.

PhD

1985/86 he was in Würzburg under Lothar Bossle with the work The home as a sociological and geopolitical category and as an identity pulse in the dynamics of modern industrial society with summa cum laude for Dr. phil. PhD .

In an article published in 1988 in the weekly newspaper Die Zeit , which criticized Lothar Bossle as being dubious, Thüne's doctoral thesis was cited as an example of Bossle's questionable doctorate. Thüne referred to the book Courage to Power from the right-wing extremist Vowinckel-Verlag and cited his own work as the source for a quote from Martin Heidegger . The private institute for research on democracy , at which Thüne did his doctorate, was already known as the “doctor factory” at the beginning of his doctorate because, according to a press release by the SPD, “with the right wallet and right-wing convictions, you could quickly get the title there” . The Bavarian State Parliament therefore dealt with the "Bossle Case" several times.

Stand against "greenhouse dizziness"

Since the late 1990s Thüne has acted as a climate denier against what he calls the “greenhouse swindle” and describes the scientifically indisputable greenhouse effect as “physical impossibility” and “scientific fairy tale” , science as “completely corrupted” . Supporters of the Kyoto Protocol , such as Gerhard Schröder and Jürgen Trittin , “obviously did not learn to think critically and to use their own mind” . He also disseminated his theses on climate change with the AfD and the climate denial association EIKE . His books on the subject received a certain reception in the mass media.

Club memberships

Thüne has been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Borusso-Saxonia Berlin since 1963 , as well as a member of the VKDSt Hasso-Rhenania Mainz and the KDStV Vasgovia Landau in the CV . Since 2006, Thüne has also been a member of the Presidium of the Association of Expellees .
