The Oxford City Rockets , which won the title six times in the last seven years - once they "only" won silver - did not participate in the highest women's ice hockey league from this season on. There was no replacement, so this season started with seven teams. For the Dundee Royals , who were also eliminated from the league, the team of Guildford Lightning joined this season . Only English teams took part in the British women's ice hockey league. After a single round of all teams (with a return leg), the best four reached the final round.
