The 2008/09 season was the 27th edition of the highest English women's ice hockey league , the Women's Premier Ice Hockey League . The league is run by the English Ice Hockey Association , the English association under the umbrella of the British ice hockey association Ice Hockey UK . The winner received the Bill Britton Memorial Trophy .

mode

Initially, all teams played a simple round with a return leg. The four best reached the semifinals. The last had to be relegated to the best in the 1st division. In the final round, only one game was played between the opponents.

Division 1

The Women's National Ice Hockey League is the second tier of the English women 's ice hockey league after the Premier League. Division 1 is the highest class in it. It is divided into three regional groups.

Final round

In a final tournament, the best of the three groups and the bottom of the Premier League were played for victory in Division 1 and for a starting place in the WPIHL. The winner, the Billingham Wildcats, who were relegated from the WPIHL last year, returned to the top division.
