The 2017/18 season was the third edition of the Women's Elite Ice Hockey League, the highest British and English women's ice hockey league . The league is run by the English Ice Hockey Association , the English association under the umbrella of the British ice hockey association Ice Hockey UK .

Elite League

The team Streatham Storm , which won the main round of the Women's Premier Ice Hockey League 2016/17 , was new to the Elite League due to their promotion . For this, the Swindon Topcats left the league and were relegated to the Premier League.

mode

Initially, all teams played a simple round with a return leg. The four best reached the final tournament. In this final round only one game was played between the opponents.

Locations of the Premier League clubs for the 2017/18 season

The 2017/18 season of the Women's Premier Ice Hockey League was the third event as the second highest British and English women's ice hockey league . The league is run by the English Ice Hockey Association , the English association under the umbrella of the British ice hockey association Ice Hockey UK .

The previous season's winner , the Streatham Storm team , had been promoted to the first-class Elite League , but the Swindon TopCats were back in the second division after a year of first class. From Division I , the B-team of the Bracknell Queen Bees rose as the winner of the league, the Slough Phantoms had withdrawn.

mode

After a main round with home and away games in the everyone-versus-everyone mode, playoffs were played in a KO mode in a final four tournament among the best four teams.

The four best-placed teams took part in the final tournament. The first played against the fourth and the second against the third. The winners carried out the final. Thanks to two goals from Rachel Piotrowski, the Milton Keynes Falcons won the play-off final despite their underdog role.

Locations of the Division I clubs for the 2017/18 season

The Division I (the Women's National Ice Hockey League ) after the Elite League and the Premier League, the third stage of the English and British women's hockey league. It is divided into a north and a south group. In the northern group, the number of participating teams decreased further to five teams. The Whitley Bay Squaws returned after a season of abstinence. The Billingham Lady Stars had withdrawn after the latter had already skipped the pre-season finals . The Coventry Phoenix moved to the southern group. In this there was also a returnee with the Invicta Dynamics . A second team from Swindon was also added. The winner, the Bracknell Queen Bees B-team, was promoted to the Premier League. This meant that the teams from the south had twice as many games as the teams from the north of England.
