Wootz is an inhabited part of the municipality Lenzerwische of the office Lenzen-Elbtalaue in the district of Prignitz in Brandenburg .
geography
The place is eight kilometers west-southwest of Lenzen (Elbe) , the seat of the Lenzen-Elbtalaue office and 34 kilometers west of Perleberg , the seat of the Prignitz district. The Klein Wootz residential area is also located in the Wootz district .
Neighboring towns are Polz in the north, Breetz , Seedorf and Mödlich in the northeast, Vietze in the east, Meetschow in the southeast, Gorleben in the south, Pölitz in the southwest, Kietz in the west, and Rosendorf in the northwest.
history
Around 1800 the place belonged to the Lenzen district in the province of Prignitz ; part of the Kurmark of the Mark Brandenburg . In a description of this landscape from 1804, the 9¼ Hufen village "Groß Wutz" with a total of 153 inhabitants is given and the owner of the dike is named Jagow zu Rühstädt. In the village, which belonged to Lenzerwische and thus to Kietz at the time, ten whole farmers, nine residents, six Büdner and one Kossate were active. In addition, there was a secondary customs office for Lenzen and 18 fireplaces. The residents were parish in the Lenzen inspection area after Kiez and the address was also Lenzen.
Since October 26, 2003, Wootz has been an inhabited part of the municipality and at the same time the seat of the Lenzerwische municipality.

- The village church Wootz is a half-timbered church from the beginning of the 17th century. In the interior there is a late Gothic carved altar.
