Wopke Bastiaan Hoekstra (* 30th September 1975 in Bennekom ) is a Dutch politician of the CDA . Since October 2017 he has been Minister of Finance in the Rutte III cabinet .

career

After studying law at the University of Leiden , which he completed in 2001, Hoekstra initially worked in commercial functions at Royal Dutch Shell in Berlin, Hamburg and Rotterdam. In 2006, after completing an MBA at Insead in Fontainebleau and Singapore, he moved to McKinsey & Company . From 2011 to 2017 he combined his work at McKinsey with a mandate in the Dutch Senate .

Hoekstra was appointed Minister of Finance in the third Rutte cabinet on October 26, 2017 .

Private

Hoekstra lives in Bussum , is engaged and has four children.
