Edward Scicluna

Edward Scicluna (born October 12, 1946 in Naxxar ) is a Maltese economist and politician . Since 2009 he has been a member of the European Parliament for the Malta Labor Party after the European elections . Since March 13, 2013 he has been Minister of Finance of Malta.

Life

After finishing school, Scicluna studied political and economic sciences at the University of Oxford and at the University of Malta , where he received his master's degree in 1975. In 1982 he received his PhD in economics from the University of Toronto . After completing his studies, Scicluna was employed as a professor for economics at the University of Malta from 1981 to 2009. He was also director of the Central Bank of Malta from 1996 to 2003 . Sciciluna is a board member in various companies in Malta. He is married to Astrid Bartoli and has two children.
