World Congress of Soil Science

The World Congress of Soil Science (WCSS) (German: World Congress of Soil Sciences ) is a conference that takes place every four years and is organized by the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS). The rhythm of events, which began in 1927, was only interrupted during the Second World War.

The aim of the congresses, which are usually attended by more than 2000 members, is to exchange the latest results in soil sciences, including questions of plant nutrition with fertilizers and bioeffectors .

The nineteenth WCSS was held in Brisbane , Australia in August 2010 . The theme of the congress was “Soil solutions for a changing world”.

The twentieth congress took place in June 2014 on Jeju-do Island in South Korea . The organizer was the Korean Society for Soil Research and Fertilization . The theme of the congress was “Soils embrace life and universe”, the venue was the ICC JEJU Convention Center.

The 21st WCSS took place in August 2018 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil .

The 22 WCS is for 2022 in Glasgow ( United Kingdom provided) and of 23 WCS for 2026 in Nanjing ( China ).
