Xenija Alexejewna Alopina ( Russian Ксения Алексеевна Алопина ; at the FIS after an English transcription Ksenia Alopina ; born May 30, 1992 in Belorezk , Bashkortostan , Russia ) is a Russian ski racer . She specializes in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom .
biography
Xenija Alopina comes from Belorezk in the southern Urals . She only started skiing at the age of nine. She lives in Moscow .
At the age of 15 she competed in her first FIS races at home . On January 27, 2010 she made her European Cup debut in the Gressoney slalom and won points straight away with a 27th place. At the Junior World Championships in the Mont-Blanc region , she did not get beyond a 71st place in giant slalom, in slalom she was eliminated. In three other JWM participations, 32nd place in the Crans-Montana slalom was her best result. Without any World Cup experience, Alopina took part in a world championship for the first time in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in February 2011 and was eliminated in the first round of the slalom.
On 15 January 2013, it debuted in slalom in Flachau in the World Cup and reached a few weeks later in Schladming a 40th World Cup ranking. In December 2013, she narrowly missed a medal at the Universiade in Pozza di Fassa, finishing fourth in the slalom. With the Winter Olympics of Sochi she finished 7.2 seconds behind winner Mikaela Shiffrin Rank 22. From March 2015 she went increasingly in Far East Cup race at Russia and South Korea at the start, in which they previously several podiums occupied. On February 9, 2016, she surprisingly won her first European Cup slalom in Pamporovo , Bulgaria . After numerous failures and non-qualifications, on February 15, 2016 in Crans-Montana , she achieved her first World Cup placement in the points with rank 23. In January 2017 she was able to surpass this result with a 21st place on the Sljeme . At the World Championships in St. Moritz , like two years earlier in Vail , she was eliminated in the second slalom run.
