Yitzhak Sadeh Prize

The Yitzhak Sadeh Prize ( Hebrew פרס יצחק שדה), or known in the Anglo-American language as the Yitzhak Sadeh Award (or Prize) for Military Literature , is a renowned literary prize for Israeli military history . The prize is endowed with 25,000 shekels (the equivalent of over 5,000 euros).

It is named after General Yitzchak Sadeh , who was commander-in-chief of the Palmach and who later proved himself in the Israeli War of Independence . The prize was donated on the 20th anniversary of his death, August 20, 1972, and is awarded annually by the Palmach Veterans Association to two or more authors from literature (books and other writings) or at the suggestion of a jury made up of two professors and a reserve general Awarded film in Hebrew . The organization was temporarily incumbent on Shmuel Coen , a personal friend of Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres .

At the award ceremony distinguished guests about the Israeli were repeatedly present Defense Minister , the Chief of Staff , the Prime Minister , several other members of the government, the commander of the Israeli Air Force and former commander of the Exodus , Yossi Harel . In 2001 the award was presented by the former head of the Israeli military intelligence service.
