Yizhou ( Chinese 宜州区 , Pinyin Yízhōu Qū ; Zhuang Yizcouh Si ) is an independent city in the Guangxi Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . It belongs to the administrative area of the prefecture -level city of Hechi and administers an area of 3896 square kilometers, on which about 680,000 inhabitants lived in 2017.

geography

Yizhou is located a little north of the center of the Guangxi Autonomous Region, about 266 kilometers by road north of the area capital Nanning . Yizhou administers a territory with a west-east extension of 101.5 kilometers and a north-south extension of 95.64 kilometers. 59% of the area of 3896 square kilometers was taken up by hill country, about 10% are flat, the rest is made up of mountains and plateaus.

Yizhou has a subtropical climate with average annual temperatures between 19.6 ° C and 20.2 ° C and almost 1700 hours of sunshine per year. Sufficient precipitation falls. Of the 295 large and small rivers that flow through Yizhou, the most important are the Long Jiang , Linjiang He , Zhongzhou He , Luoshou He, and Wugong He .

At the end of 2017, Yizhou had a total population of 680,000. The 2000 population census showed a total population of 549,434 people in 151,337 households, of which 288,084 men and 261,350 women.

30 nationalities live in Yizhou , of which the Zhuang , Yao , Miao , Mulam , Maonan , Li and Sui .

Administrative structure

At the community level, Yizhou consisted of nine large communities , five communities and two nationality communities as of the end of 2018 . These are:

Communities Xiangbei (祥贝乡), Pingnan (屏南乡) Tongde (同德乡), Anma (安马乡), Longtou (龙头乡)
Autonomous communities of Fulong (福龙瑶族乡) and Beiya (北牙瑶族乡) of the Yao

The above-mentioned administrative units are made up of 180 villages and 30 communities at village level , which in turn manage 2,459 village settlements.

Culture

Economy and Transport

Yizhou has approximately 46,000 acres of arable land, approximately 83,000 acres of forest, approximately 88,000 acres of pasture land, and approximately 1,800 acres of land used for fish farming. There are rice , wheat , soybeans , corn , sugar cane , citrus fruits grown and fruit as well as silkworms bred and various kinds of fish.

The Yizhou rivers have a theoretical potential to generate 285 MW of electrical power. About 96 MW of this is developed with 80 hydropower plants of various sizes, of which the most important power plants are the Laliang hydropower plant with 51 MW, the Luodong hydropower plant with 45 MW and the Yemao hydropower plant with 37.5 MW.

Yizhou has deposits of high quality coal , manganese and limestone , as well as limonite , mercury , phosphorus , pyrite , diamonds , barite , marble and gypsum.

Yizhou is on the Guizhou-Guangxi Railway and the 323 National Road .
